Research File Structure

Page history last edited by lynne 3 years, 4 months ago

Table of Page Contents (prepared with TOC plugin)

NOTE

"Research files" reflect your explorations on topics for Class Projects, Presentations and Final Papers. Entries (URL or bibliographic reference) are accompanied by 50-200 wds long annotations, depending on the case. For familiaour own opinion/analysis is more important than copying&pasting long texts.

A "research file" as a wiki page can be managed by one person or a group. If more than one persons are working on the page, please add contributor initials at each entry - the wiki page can only record the date and name of who edited but not what they edited. Comments to the page would help to ID the contributor and date, however, they do not allow editing (you'd need to delete an old comment and create a new one), or live links.

A Table of Contents (TOC) plugin at the top of a page creates the possibility to "jump" to sections of the page. Click the Edit button, then click Insert Plugin on the Tools bar, specify the number of levels of headings you want to use > Preview > OK. The TOC only "sees" text formatted as headings - so, format the first line of entries as a heading: from the Format dropdown menu choose Heading 1, 2, 3... In the current page, only 3 levels of headings are used.
